Texas Consumer Dispute Resolution

The Bexar County Texas Dispute Resolution Center is a community dispute resolution program. The center provides help to the Texas consumer living in Bexar County through two different approaches, the Multi- Door Program and through Mediation.

The Multi-Door Program helps consumers determine the most appropriate way available to resolve a problem. They will offer referrals to small claims courts, justices of peace, mediation programs, district, county, and city attorneys, or other government and social service agencies. Using this service saves you time by helping you find the right people to talk to. Their referral is often to the Resolution Center as it usually provides the best solution for both parties. Mediation for the dispute will be scheduled quickly and there is no cost.

The Resolution Center will mediate disputes if the other methods of resolving disputes through the Multi-Door Program fail or are not appropriate. Mediation provides the consumer an opportunity to take an active role in settling their problem. The consumer must go to the Dispute Resolution Center to request mediation. A mediation conference will be scheduled so you and the business involved can sit down together. At the mediation conference, a trained mediator will explain the mediation process to both individuals. Each person in the dispute will present their side of the story. The mediator may ask questions to clarify the issues. If the parties arrive at an understanding, a written agreement is made with the mediator's assistance.

The Resolution Center can be used by Bexar County Texas consumers for more than business complaints. Employer/employee disputes as well as neighbor disputes, landlord/tenant disputes, Child Visitation problems and other situations that may be helped by mediation are also heard.

You can reach them at (210) 335-2128 for more information or to set up a mediation session.
